Mom Syndrome: We All Have it at Some Point in Time

Mom Syndrome: we all have it at some point in time. We spend everything on the kids, stop buying ourselves clothes, forget to take care of our social needs, don’t always get enough sleep, etc. It took me until our second child was a couple years old for me to realize that it was not selfish of me to take care of my needs. I liken it to the flying example where the flight attendant always tells you that you must always put on your air mask before putting on your child’s or you will not be any good to them. My “mommy air” needs quiet time, reading time, time with my friends, sexy lingerie that reminds me I am still a woman, etc. It is important to make sure that not all of our time is consumed with giving and nurturing or we will run out of margin and have nothing left to give.
