Many people think that you can only claim compensation if you are a driver involved in a car accident. In fact, anyone who is injured on the road can put in a compensation claim, if the accident was not their fault. This can include passengers in the car, motorcyclists, cyclists and pedestrians.
Whoever is injured, they deserve to get compensation for the injury. It is not always easy to prove who was at fault though. Therefore it is wise to be alert at the time of the accident if you can. Note down car registrations and details of the damage to vehicles and people as well as getting witnesses contact details. Take photos if you can as well, your phone might have this capability. Phone the police as well because their statements can be good evidence for you.
If you are unconscious or too injured to know what happened then you will not be able to do this. However, you may still be able to make a compensation claim. It is worth contacting a solicitor anyway so that you can find out whether they think there is enough evidence for a case.
Even if you have sketchy memories, you may find that someone called the police or that the person who was at fault is willing to admit it and take the blame. It is worth just letting them find out a few things like this for you because it could mean that you get the money you are entitled to and this could make a big difference to your life.
You will lose nothing by making contact with a solicitor. Most of them offer a free initial consultation and so you can take advantage of this and find out whether they think you have a good case or not.
